In Balochistan, where women with disabilities face both gender and disability discrimination, Sadaf Ajmal found her purpose through her own family. When her sister was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Sadaf witnessed how disability could narrow a woman’s education, social life, and opportunities. That experience became a turning point. In 2015, she joined a small disability-rights initiative that eventually became Breaking Barriers Women (BBW), formally registered in 2019. For three years, Sadaf and her volunteers worked without a single grant, even funding activities from their own pockets. Today, BBW works with women, persons with disabilities, and youth affected by crisis, climate disasters, poverty, and displacement. Her latest initiative, Voices of the Mind, brought mental health into humanitarian conversations by creating spaces built on trust rather than scale. For Sadaf, leadership is not about providing answers—it is about creating the conditions for people to find their own voices
