Khotimun Sutanti, known as Imun,  is a woman of quiet defiance and deep conviction. A survivor of the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake, she witnessed firsthand how women’s specific needs were sidelined in chaotic relief efforts. Rather than accept the status quo, she stepped forward as an informal volunteer amid the ruins of Klaten and Prambanan, beginning a lifelong mission: to ensure women are recognized not as victims of crisis but as leading first responders. As the driving force behind LBH APIK Indonesia’s humanitarian engagement, Imun has woven feminist legal reform into emergency response — creating a space where gender justice is not an afterthought, but a core principle in every crisis.
