The Pulse of the Market: Nani’s Journey to Feminist Humanitarian Leadership

Description

Sarni Siyauta, known as Nani, discovered her path to humanitarian leadership through a chance encounter on the streets of Ambon, where a mentor recognized her potential. Starting as a teacher in a community preschool run by LAPPAN Ambon, she built her understanding of empowerment one family at a time. In December 2025, she traveled solo across the Indonesian archipelago for the first time to attend a Pre-Crisis Market Analysis (PCMA) training in Kupang, a moment she describes as transformative, not just professionally but personally. She returned to Maluku equipped with tools to ensure humanitarian aid strengthens, rather than disrupts, local markets, and with the conviction.
