Yemen Family Care Association
Founded in 1976, YFCA (Yemen Family Care Association) is a neutral, independent Yemeni NGO dedicated to promoting equitable and sustainable development and providing lifesaving humanitarian assistance. With a proven track record across all governorates of Yemen, YFCA delivers multisectoral interventions including health, nutrition, WASH, food security, education, shelter, and protection. It operates with a people-centered and evidence-based approach, integrating cross-cutting priorities like gender, localization, and climate resilience. YFCA holds Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC and is the first Sphere member in Yemen. It is also an active member of numerous global and regional networks, including ICVA, CaLP, GNDR, and CANAW. Through decades of experience and partnerships with UN agencies and INGOs, YFCA remains a trusted humanitarian actor deeply rooted in local communities
Who We Work With
Health & Nutrition (H&N): Reproductive, maternal and child health services, emergency trauma care, SAM/MAM treatment, mobile clinics, health facility support.
WASH: Provision of safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services; rehabilitation of water systems; emergency latrine construction; solar water pumping; hygiene promotion.
Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL): Unconditional cash transfers, food baskets, cash-for-work, vocational training, and the graduation approach to resilience.
Shelter & CCCM: Emergency/transitional shelters, NFI distribution, camp management, housing rehabilitation, flood-resilient shelters.
Protection: Protection monitoring, psychosocial support, cash for protection, referral pathways, GBV risk mitigation, capacity building of local NGOs.
Education: Rehabilitating schools and TLCs, teacher incentives, education in emergencies (EiE), accelerated learning programs, and student awareness campaigns

What we do and our program portfolio
BRIGHTLY – Strengthening Resilience through Integrated FSL & Protection (FCDO-funded)
Objective: Enhance the resilience and dignity of vulnerable households affected by climate shocks.
Description: Delivered UCTs, cash-for-work, and cash-for-protection; integrated protection referral mechanisms and supported livelihoods recovery.Â
Target Beneficiaries: 53,000+ individuals in Taiz and Hajjah.
Safe Motherhood Specialized Hospital & Mobile Clinics Initiative (UNFPA-supported)
Objective: Improve reproductive, maternal, and neonatal health through accessible and quality services.
Description: Operationalizes a flagship hospital, mobile health teams, and outreach to remote and underserved areas.
Target Beneficiaries: 228,000+ women and children across 11 governorates.
Integrated Nutrition Response Project (WFP-supported)
Objective: Address acute malnutrition and promote optimal infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices.
Description: Provided SAM/MAM treatment, TSFP, IYCF counseling, and trained community volunteers and CHNVs for screening and outreach.
Target Beneficiaries: 52,000+ children and PLWs in high-burden districts.
Provision of Humanitarian Integrated WASH and FSL Assistance (Muslim Aid & UMCOR-funded)
Objective: Ensure sustained access to clean water and emergency livelihoods in vulnerable communities.
Description: Rehabilitated water systems, installed solar pumps, supported hygiene promotion, and distributed food baskets.
Target Beneficiaries: 75,000+ people in Shabwah and Hadramout.
Emergency Shelter and CCCM Support for Flood-Affected Populations (START Fund & Muslim Aid-funded)
Objective: Provide safe, dignified shelter and effective camp coordination in disaster-prone regions.
Description: Distributed NFIs, built transitional shelters, managed IDP camps, and introduced DRR measures.
Target Beneficiaries: 6,500+ individuals in Hadramout, Marib, and Al-Dhalea.
Education in Emergencies and Durable Learning Spaces (Hilton Foundation-funded)
Objective: Restore access to education and enhance learning environments for conflict-affected children.
Description: Rehabilitated schools and TLCs, trained teachers in EiE and accelerated learning, and conducted awareness sessions.
Target Beneficiaries: 3,600+ students and 1,550 teachers in Taiz.
